Who among you have married a Filipina? I have a few questions to ask. please help?

I’ve been married to one for 30 years. We’ve got 6 kids.

A fiance(e) visa will take about 1 year from start to finish. The visa, once issued to you, must be used within 6 months. Once you arrive in the United States you must get married within 90 days.

An immigration attorney, consultant, etc… cannot help the process go faster in any way. It’s expensive and silly to pay to fill up 3 simple forms.

Your US fiancee files I-129F, I-134 and G-325A. You do nothing but wait to be contacted by the US embassy in Manila.

    The forms are here……..

Look the forms over and you’ll see how simple they are. The fee to file for your US fiancee is $455.

Once you get married in the USA you’ll file I-485, I-131 and I-765. The cost to file these are $1,010. In less than 90 days you’ll get a work permit allowing you to take any job. In about 6 months you’ll have your Green Card interview. In about a year you’ll get your Green Card in the mail.

About 6 to 8 months after your US fiancee files you’ll receive a packet from the US embassy in Manila. You’ll fill out the forms. You’ll take your physical exam from St. Luke’s clinic in Manila. You’ll return everything to the embassy.

2 to 4 months later you’ll be contacted again with a request that you make an appointment for your interview. Assuming you pass the interview you’ll leave your passport. In about a week you’ll get your passport back, with the visa attached, sent by private courier service.

Don’t use an immigration expert unless you have trouble. You’ll just waste your money.

My husband and I complete all of our own paperwork. It will take you somewhere around 6 months to 9 months to get everything done.

The best resource you can find about this is a website called Visa Journey.

They will answer every question you have, they have the forms and examples. And they even have an area just about the Philippine process. Best part, it’s 100% free. You’ll meet lots other Fil-Am couples going through the process there.

I even met up with another Filipina at the Embassy when I had my interview, that I had met online through Visa Journey.

    Best wishes on your process.

    Leslie
